Puducherry : Coronavirus Disease (Covid 19) infection case is on the rise in the union territory with 128 more persons tested positive for the virus and one death reported in the last 24 hours ending at 10 Am on Saturday as against the 86 new cases and one death yesterday.
With this,the tally of infection rose to 125384 and death to 1829.
According to the Covid 19 status for Saturday released by the health department, of the 5004 swab tests taken yesterday,128 tested positive for the virus.88 new cases were reported in Puducherry region,32 in Karaikal and eight in Mahe regions.No new cases were reported in the Yanam region of the union territory.As many as 122 persons were discharged in the last 24 hurs.79 of them were from Puducherry region,21 from Karaikal,nine from Yanam and 13 from Mahe regions.
Presently,113 persons are being treated in Puducherry region,26 in Karaikal,seven in Yanam and 23 in Mahe regions.Another,755 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the union territory.
So far, 125384 persons are infected by the virus of which 122631 were treated and discharged and 1829 died leaving 924 active cases here.
Ramachandran, a 75 year old man with Hypertension and Diabetes died in Jipmer hospital yesterday due to Covid Pneumonia and ARDS.
The test positivity rate in the UT is 2.56 percent,case fatality rate 1.46 percent and recovery rate 97.80 percent.
As many as 897261 persons including health care workers,frontline workers and general pubic were so far vaccinated against Covid in the union territory.
