Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday conduct griha pravesh – through the virtual medium – for 5.21 lakh beneficiaries of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and interact online with this segment, it was officially learnt on Monday. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in the state-level programme from Chhatarpur district. The event shall be telecast live on various platforms of Doordarshan, electronic and social media. “The central and state dispensations have resolved to ensure that every indigent family has their own permanent dwelling. For fulfilment of this resolution, pucca housing will be provided to each citizen by 2024 under PMAY(R). Thus far, in excess of 24.10 lakh such abodes have been completed in the state. This figure includes more than 23,000 for members of the Baiga, Sahariya and Bharia tribes,” Mr Chouhan said. The Awas Plus Yojana has been launched to include eligible persons who have been left out in the Social, Economic and Caste Census-2021 survey. As many as 31.36 lakh families were added. In the scheme, an integrated action plan is made by linking various programmes in those villages where more than 100 houses are being built, to ensure all-round development through Abhyuday Navachar. Community and individual infrastructure building, social security, strengthening of livelihood, etc are undertaken. To date; 2,731 villages have been identified in the state and a detailed action plan has been prepared for 1,668. Beneficiaries are being encouraged to utilise fly-ash bricks, which are more economical and of higher quality. More than 300 members of 33 SHGs are making about 60 to 65,000 such bricks daily. Rural women are thus being financially empowered.
