Kolkata : About 52 companies of central paramilitary
forces are expected to be deployed on September 30
Bhawanipur seat bypoll, Shamshergunj and Jangipur assembly seats
elections on the same day.
A section of CRPF’s women wing on Friday began route march in sensitive Bhawanipur in south Kolkata.
The main focus is on the Bhawanipur assembly where the chief minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is seeking her electoral fortune after her defeat to BJP candidate Suvenbdu Adhikari in Nandigram during the March-April poll. She is facing BJP candidate and advocate Priyanka Tibrewal and CPI(M)’s Shreejib Biswas.
The trio have been busy for the past week to woo voters in their capacity
as well as their poll managers.
Already 15 companies of central armed forces arrived for
poll duty and the remaining 37 companies would come in the coming days, sources said.
Of the 52 companies, 19 would be CRPF, 15 companies BSF, 5 each of
CISF and ITBP and eight companies of SSB.
