Hamirpur/Simla(HP) : The Himachal Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, an outfit of the RSS, has opened a front against the Centre demanding fair price of their produce and improving the condition of farmers and orchardists.
The Sangh will hold nationwide demonstrations across the country, according to Somdev Sharma, State President of the Sangh.
Sharma said that today the condition of the farmers was bad but the government was not taking any steps to change their working conditions and as such they were forced to take such a drastic step.
He said that the Sangh would also submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister through respective Deputy Commissioners demanding the minimum support price of their crops on September 8.
The Sangh leader said that the central government gave MSP on 23 crops, does not include one of the main fruits like apples and vegetables growing in Himachal Pradesh.
He demanded that MSP should be fixed for the crops of ginger, tomato, garlic, cabbage, etc. in the state as they could not get the fair price for their crops in the markets and could not even recover the cost price.
The Kisan Sangh leader demanded that the farmers should get their minimum support price so that they should not suffer financially.
The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh warned that the atrocities on farmers and orchardists would not be tolerated.
He said that if the government did not accept their demands, then the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh would start a major movement against the central government.
