New Delhi : Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday accused the Bhartiya Janata Party of disrupting the development work being done by Delhi Government through “false” complaints.
Sisodia also accused L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena of disregarding the constitutional framework by acting upon the “false” complaints without following due procedures.
He also added that complaint was already closed by the previous L-G Anil Baijal after he found it “frivolous” post investigation.
“A complaint filed by MP Manoj Tiwari, which was found frivolous by previous L-G Anil Baijal after investigation, has now been reopened by the L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena and has been handed over to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). This is against the procedure laid out in the Prevention of Corruption Act which mandates that permission should be sought from the state government before directing an inquiry of a public servant,” Sisodia told the reporters in a presser held today.
He was referring to a case of alleged corruption in which L-G Saxena has given his nod to the Anti-Corruption Branch to probe allegations of irregularities in the construction of seven temporary hospitals in Delhi during the Covid-19 pandemic.
BJP MP from Northeast Delhi Manoj Tiwari, who had complained about the matter, had alleged the Arvind Kejriwal government had passed tenders worth Rs 1,216 crore to construction seven temporary hospitals, which was later raised to Rs 1,256 crore.
“We are a hardcore honest government and we are not scared of any investigation. The BJP is filing such complaints to stop the work being carried out by the Delhi government in various sectors,” the Minister said.
He also suggested the L-G to go by merit of the complaint. “I would urge him not to go by the complainants only who are from BJP and also act upon the corruption complaints from the general public,” he added.
