Bengaluru : Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai Wednesday vowed to regularly take brisk walks to reduce the risk of mortality.
“If I look at PC Mohan, our MP, he seems to take brisk walking. Our doctor (Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar) not only takes brisk walks, but also exercises. Sometimes I take a brisk walk, but from today onwards, I vow to take brisk walking regularly,” he said on the occasion of World Heart Day.
Health experts say people who walk briskly have a long life expectancy.
“Out of 60 per premature death, 25 per cent occur due to heart disease. Brisk walking is an excellent exercise to prevent this. Half an hour of brisk walking everyday will prevent people dying from heart diseases,” he said on the occasion of World Heart Day.
A strong mind and body contributes to a healthy life, he said.
Bommai said the health of an individual and the community is very important to keep reducing the risk of mortality.
Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, BJP MP PC Mohan and District Collector Manjunath were present at the occasion.
