Chandigarh : As it led the race for victory, the AAP said on Monday that its good showing in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections was a vote for the Kejriwal model of governance and that the results also reflect the mood in Punjab.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Raghav Chadha told the media here that the people of Chandigarh had shown their disgust against the “corruption” of the BJP and the Congress which have controlled the municipal body for the past 25 years.
Counting of votes in the elections showed that the AAP, which plunged into the municipal battle for the first time, had won or was leading in 14 wards, followed by the BJP in 10.
“This is a vote for the Kejriwal model of governance,” Chadha said, referring to the Delhi government. “People of Chandigarh want to give a chance to Kejriwal. This is the message from Chandigarh.”
Chadha described the Chandigarh outcome as a “trailer” and said the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections would see the “full picture”.
