Kolhapur : Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Monday assured that the flood-hit farmers will be compensated on the lines of 2019 alleviation measures.
However, the final decision will be taken post approval in a cabinet meet, the CM assured Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana chief Raju Shetti who has been agitating for the affected ryots.
Former MP Shetti had given an ultimatum that if the state government doesn’t heed the farmers’ demand than he would take ‘jal samadhi’.
In the same regards, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government invited him to Mumbai for discussing on the issue.
The meeting was also attended by ministers Babasaheb Thorat and Eknath Shinde, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and Sanghatana state chief Jalandhar Patil among others.
Among other demands, Mr Shetti has also sought to waive crop loans and form a committee of experts to recommend anti-flood measures.
