Aurangabad/Mumbai : Water Resources Minister and NCP state president Jayant Patil on Saturday said that, the state government has already announced a policy to help the rain affected and assured compensation to be given as soon as possible to affected people.
Mr Patil who is on a tour today to visit rain affected areas of Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district and Kannad of Aurangabad district.
Visiting the affected areas in Chalisgaon, Mr Patil said that the floods have eroded agriculture land and washed away many animals during the cloudburst here now the challenge was to dispose of the dead animals, but local people have made this task easy.
The minister said as villagers claimed that flood situation arose due to the extra construction work done in the name of beautification of the river basin in Chalisgaon area and it was strongly opposed by the locals, so we will give order to the District Collector to remove the unauthorised constructions in the river basin, Mr Patil said.
As there was a demand from the citizens to build a protective wall near the river, Mr Patil promised to take action to build a protection wall soon to protect the village from floods.
Later, he moved to Kannad in Aurangabad district where he will intract with affected peoples and farmers and will address press by this evening in Aurangabad, said party sources.
