Mumbai :A local court here on Saturday extended the custody of suspended police officer Sachin Vaze till November 15 in relation to the Goregaon extortion case.
Vaze is currently in the custody of Mumbai police.
The case also includes former Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh, who is currently absconding. Before that, Vaze had been lodged in Taloja jail after being arrested by NIA in the Antilia Bomb scare case and Mansukh Hiren death case, in which he’s been chargesheeted under terrorism and murder charges.
Earlier, the ED had sought his custody, but the court had rejected its plea.
Mumbai police had opposed the ED’s application, while saying that Vaze is in police custody and if he is allowed to give a statement to the Enforcement Directorate, “it can affect the investigation at this moment.”
Mumbai Police had also said that the Central agency had recorded Vaze’s statement on June 19, 21 and July 11 this year in Taloja Jail Mumbai, hence he should not be remanded into the ED custody.
