Aurangabad : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 43 fresh cases of COVID-19 and five more deaths due to the virus during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed on Saturday.
The district headquarters report stated that out of eight districts in the region, Beed district was worst-affected with eight new cases and three deaths, followed by Aurangabad which had 18 cases and two deaths, Osmanabad had nine cases, Nanded recorded six cases, Latur recorded four cases, Hingoli recorded a single case while Jalna and Parbhani districts recorded no new case, they added.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 997 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 65,22,345.
The state also registered 41 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,40,516.
Meanwhile, 954 patients recovered in the state during the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries to 64,65,893, the recovery rate currently stands at 97.64 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
At present, there are 12,290 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centers and hospitals, the health authorities said.
