Puducherry : As many as 39 new Coronavirus cases have been reported in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Tuesday, taking the Covid infection tally to 1,28,263 and death toll remained at 1,862 with no fatalities recorded during the period.
Today’s cases were 15 more than what had been registered on Monday.
According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 2,453 swab sample tests conducted yesterday, 39 persons tested positive for the virus.
Nineteen new cases were reported in Puducherry region,13 in Karaikal region, four in Yanam region and three in Mahe region.
In the last 24 hours, 42 persons were discharged and 23 of them were from Puducherry region, six from Karaikal region and 13 from Mahe region.
Presently, 55 patients are being treated at hospitals in Puducherry region, eight in Karaikal region, three in Yanam region and nine in Mahe region.
Another 192 persons diagnosed positive for Covid-19 were taking treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.
So far, 1,28,263 persons are infected by Coronavirus and of which 1,26,134 patients were treated and discharged, 1,862 people died and presently there are 267 active cases.
The test positivity rate in the UT is 1.59 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate is 98.34 per cent.
About 11,41,247 doses of Covid vaccine were administered so far to healthcare workers, frontline workers and the general public in the UT.
