Srinagar :A day after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) gave a clean chit to forces, the families of two civilians killed in Hyderpora encounter rejected the police claim, saying that they don’t buy this version.
SIT head Sujit Kumar, who is Deputy Inspector General central Kashmir, said.building owner Altaf Bhat was used as human shield by foreign terrorist and was killed in crossfire.
The SIT head said Mudasir Gul was killed by the Pakistani terrorist in the attic of the building, as perhaps he received instructions from outside that Gul may have been behind the operation.
“If we go by the police version, Altaf sahib was used as a human shield by foreign militant, who was carrying a pistol. There were 2000 security personnel involved in the operation and isn’t it surprising that they couldn’t save him,” a family member said.
“If security forces had an input about the presence of militants in the building, why was he asked to enter the building,” they asked.
The family members said that Altaf Bhat voluntarily entered the building.
“This shows he was 100 per cent confident that no one was hiding inside the building. He was a law-abiding citizen,” they said, adding that they have no hope from the inquiry.
“Who has got justice in Kashmir?…we have no exception and we have left it to Allah…,” he added.
Gul’s family too questioned the police probe.
His wife said if according to the police version he was ferrying the militant, why did not they arrest him.
“He was a doctor by profession and why would he put his family and life at stake for nothing,” she said, adding that police must show them the CCTV footage where Gul is allegedly ferrying a foreign militant.
