The govt on Wednesday secured the deal to procure 83 Tejas light combat aircraft state-run aerospace giant Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd at a cost of ₹48,000 crore.
Tejas is a single engine multi-role supersonic fighter aircraft capable of operating in high-threat areal environments.
The 73 highly agine Tejas Mk-IA variant and 10 LCA Tejas Mk-I trainer aircraft are expected to boost the IAF’s combat prowess.
