Navsari : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the government has worked dedicatedly to improve the lives and livelihoods of the marginalized in the past eight years and those who ruled the country for long didn’t take interest in development of tribal areas since it takes more efforts.
The Prime Minister was addressing the gathering while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of development initiatives worth about Rs 3050 crores at a tribal region in Navsari, Gujarat.
“Our dalits, backwards, marginalised, tribals and downtrodden segments passed their whole lives in fulfilling only their basic needs. For a long period after independence, those who ran the government for maximum time, didn’t make development their priority. They did not develop the areas and sections where development was needed the most, since it requires more efforts,” he said.
The Prime Minister said previously the government schemes used to focus on the metros alone. We made sure benefits were taken to even the remotest parts of India, he added.
He said the government has worked dedicatedly on Garib Kalyan in the last eight years.
Through schemes such as Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission and Ujjwala Yojana, we have helped improved the lives and livelihoods of the marginalized, he added.
“I have inaugurated development projects worth more than Rs 3,000 crore under Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan. These development projects will help open opportunities for Adivasis by improving connectivity and basic amenities in the state,” he said.
Modi said the multiple development projects launched today will greatly benefit the regions of Navsari, Tapi, Surat, Valsad and South of Gujarat and it will connect the regions with development and prosperity.
“From housing to tap water connections, from smoke-free kitchens to free vaccinations, we have ensured that that our adivasis and dalits get the maximum benefit of all the government schemes,” he said.
During the programme, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development initiatives worth about Rs 3050 crores at Khudvel, a tribal region in Navsari.
This included the inauguration of 7 projects, foundation stone laying for 12 projects and Bhumi Pujan of 14 projects.
These projects will help in improving water supply in the region, along with boosting connectivity and enhancing ease of living, the PMO said.
