UNESCO World Heritage Committee has recommended that Australia’s Great Barrier Reef be added to the list of “in danger” World Heritage sites. Australia has opposed the move, saying the recommendation was politically motivated which is part of an ongoing dispute between UNESCO and the Australian government. The recommendation will be considered by 21 countries of the committee of which Australia is a member.
