HP govt is giving priority to destitute animals: Ashok Sharma

Hamirpur (HP) :The Himachal government is working on a priority basis to provide shelter to the destitute animals wandering on the roads. All possible help was being provided by the government to the Gau Sadans being operated in each district, said, Ashok Sharma, Vice-chairman of HP Cow service commission.
He held a review meeting on Friday with the operators of various Gau Sadans, Gaushalas, and Gau Sanctuaries in the district and officials of the Animal Husbandry Department.
In the meeting, extensive discussions were held regarding the problem of destitute animals and the operation of Gau Sadans and Gaushalas.
He told the meeting that apart from Gau Sadans, Kay Sanctuaries were also being built so that the maximum number of cows can be provided with a roof.
Ashok Sharma said that the problems and demands of the operators of Gau Sadans would be placed before the State Government.
During the meeting, the operators demanded to provide sufficient land for the construction of Gau Sadans, provision of funds for the construction of Gau Sadans, increase the incentive amount for fodder, and arrangement of medicines in the Gau Sadans for the treatment of animals.
In the meeting, Gau Seva Samiti, Hamirpur President, Rasil Singh Mankotia, Vice President Keshav Sharma, Cow Service Commission member Ashish Sharma, Animal Husbandry Department’s Deputy Director Dr Manoj Kumar, Assistant Director Dr Satish Kapoor, Dr Ajay Kumar, and other veterinarians attended also participated.
