I knew the names of Aligarh & Sitapur as a child: PM

Aligarh : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing an event here on Tuesday, reminisced his old association with the city, and said he knew Aligarh and Sitapur even as a child.

The Prime Minister, speaking after laying the foundation stone for Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh university, also wished the people on the occasion of Radha Asthami, and said it was an auspicious day.

The PM said that he knew about the importance of Locks of Aligarh since he was a child, and recalled a Muslim salesman from Aligarh who used to come to his village to sell locks.

“The salesman used to keep the money, collected from the sale with my father and would collect it when he left for Aligarh,” he remembered.

He said that similarly Sitapur was known as a place where people can go for the treatment of eye ailment.

Before ending his speech, the PM raised the slogan of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh Amar Rahe with the people along with Bharat Mata ki Jai.
