New Delhi : India on Monday registered 33,750 new COVID-19 cases, a 22 per cent jump from the previous day’s tally, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
Besides, the country also reported 123 deaths due to the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 4,8 18 93.
On Sunday, India registered 27,553 cases and 284 deaths.
The total active cases crossed one lakh-mark to 145,582, which is less than one per cent of total cases (0.42 per cent).
Currently, the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.20 per cent.
The recovery tally rose to 3,42, 95,407 as 10,846 more people recuperated from from the disease in the last 24 hours, data stated.
The daily positivity rate stood at 3.84 per cent, whereas weekly positivity rate recorded at 1.68 per cent.
According to the Ministry, the Omicron tally in the country rose to 1,700, of which 639 have recovered or been discharged.
Maharashtra has recorded the highest 510 cases of the new variant, followed by Delhi 351, Kerala 156, Gujarat 136, Tamil Nadu 121 and Rajasthan 120.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Monday, 68.09 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
“India has administered 145.68 cr doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data stated.
The vaccination for children between 15 to 18 age group commenced from Monday amid a surge of Covid cases in multiple cities. So far, over 8 lakh children in this age group have registered on the government’s CoWin portal for vaccination.
