J&K: Newspaper office gutted in fire incident

Srinagar :Fire broke out in a hotel housing several private offices including a newspaper in the posh Raj Bagh area causing damage to the property worth lakhs in Srinagar on Thursday. Fire and emergency office said that fire broke out in the upper floor of hotel “Aashiyana” and then spread to several private offices including a local Urdu newspaper Srinagar Mail. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot who managed to douse the fire and brought the it under control. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, they said and added no one was injured in the incident. UNI QAB ACL1330 CRIME-JK-RESCUED JK Police rescued abducted girl, accused arrested in Srinagar Srinagar, Jan 27 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have rescued a girl from Srinagar after her abduction and arrested the accused on Thursday, police statement said. It said Zakura police station received a written complaint on January 14, from a resident of Danihama regarding the abduction of her 20-year-old sister (name withheld) who had gone shopping and did not return back to home. Police registered a missing report and started investigations during which it was learnt that the missing girl was abducted by one Mohammad Sahil Kumar of Rawalpora Srinagar. After the strenuous efforts of police and with the help of technical and physical evidence, the abducted girl was recovered from the possession of the accused. The girl was handed over to her legal heirs after the legal formalities, the police said. ” The accused has been arrested,” the statement said.
