Bhubaneswar : Odisha government has alerted the district collectors to take all precautionary measures in view of heavy rains predicted by the meteorological department across the state in the next two days.
Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena has asked all the district collectors to closely monitor the situation and take necessary measures in case of any eventuality.
As per the midday weather bulletin issued by the IMD a cyclonic circulation over the northeast & adjoining the east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a low-pressure area.
Under its impact of heavy rainfall, a thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at many places in Odisha in the next two days.
The Met has already issued a yellow warning to as many as 22 districts in the state where light to moderate and heavy rains or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places over the state.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri districts.
Met sources further said squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 4o-50 kmph very likely over the west-central adjoining north Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast during 6″ and 7r’september 2021.
The fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea of west-central adjoining north Bay of Bengal off south Odisha coast during 6th and 7th September 2021.
The collectors of the districts likely to be hit by the rain have been asked to circulate the warning message among the public.
