Aurangabad : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 148 fresh COVID-19 cases and 4 positive patients succumbed during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed on Monday.
The district headquarters report stated that of eight districts in the region, Beed district was the worst-affected with 70 cases and 2 deaths, followed by Aurangabad with 29 cases and 2 deaths, Latur had 25 cases, Osmanabad had 21 cases, Nanded, Parbhani and Jalna recorded one each case.
Hingoli did not register any Covid positive case on the fifth consecutive day.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 3,623 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 64,97,877.
The state also registered 46 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,38,142.
Meanwhile, 2,972 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 63,05,788 the recovery rate currently stands at 97.04 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
At present, there are 50,400 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.
