Aurangabad : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 51 fresh COVID-19 cases and three more deaths due to the virus during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed on Friday.
The district headquarters report stated that out of eight districts of the region, Aurangabad district was the worst-affected with 15 cases and two deaths, followed by Latur which recorded four cases and a single death, Beed recorded 12 cases, Osmanabad had 11 cases, Jalna recorded six cases, Parbhani recorded two cases, Nanded registered a single case and Hingoli nil, they added.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 997 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded from across the state, taking the total number of infections to 65,21,420.
The state also registered 28 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,40,420.
Meanwhile, 1,016 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 64,64,948, the recovery rate currently stands at 97.64 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
At present, there are 12,352 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.
