Srinagar : PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday replaced her display picture (DP) on Twitter with a 2015 picture of her late father and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Tricolour and the now derecognised flag of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state.
The Peoples Democratic Party president changed the DP days ahead of the third anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and derecognising of the erstwhile state which was made into two union territories.
After the scrapping of special status, J&K’s red flag with a plough and three stripes was also de-regnoised.
Mufti said the state flag was “irreversibly linked to the Indian flag” and was “robbed” from them.
“Changed my dp since a flag is a matter of joy & pride. For us our state flag was irreversibly linked to the Indian flag. It was snatched thus breaking away the link. You may have robbed us of our flag but cant erase it from our collective conscience,” she tweeted.
On Tuesday, Modi changed the DP on his social media accounts to “Tiranga” (tricolour) and urged the citizens to do the same.
On August 5, 2019, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in Rajya Sabha that the President of India issued The Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 2019 (C.O. 272) under Article 370, superseding the Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 1954, thereby scrapping special status to the erstwhile state.
