Aurangabad : Despite the fact that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has appealed to the striking employees of Maharashtra State Transport Corporation(MSRTC) to call off their agitation as it is causing severe inconvenience to common people, especially to the poor, Trade unions remain adamant on their demands to merge MSRTC with state government.
In Aurangabad districts all the depots wore a deserted look while private transporters started plying on the roads.
The state government had filed a contempt petition against striking employees in
Bombay High Court, the court had directed to unions to reply by Friday.
The workers are adamant on the strike at all the 250 bus depots.
The MSRTC has so far suspended 918 employees across in the state.
Meanwhile, the workers have started a sit-in agitation at Azad Maidan in Mumbai since yesterday.
The workers have decided not to leave Azad Maidan till their demands are met. The Bharatiya Janata Party has supported the strike.
