Hamirpur (HP) : The entire academic area of the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur has been equipped with Wireless connectivity.
NIT, Hamirpur is the lone Engineering college of the central government in the state and was set up in 1986 as REC(Regional Engineering College), Hamirpur.
Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi, Director NIT Hamirpur said on Saturday that 300 indoor and outdoor Wireless Access Points had been procured and deployed by the institute recently.
He said that the present administration is making all the efforts to facilitate and promote new tools and technologies so that the benefits and interests of the students, researchers and faculty of the institute can be ensured.
The Director clarified that after the commencement of this facility, the users could access Internet services over wireless channels in the Campus. Moreover, with the help of centralized setup of wireless LAN controllers (WLC), the users will be able to move and stay connected seamlessly. During the next phase, Wi-fi facility will be extended to all the hostels and residences.
The Director also said that 75 Laptops having rich configurations and touch screen features had been issued and distributed to the Faculty Members of the Institute last month along with Digital Writing Pads. He said, such ICT facilities will definitely boost the teaching and learning environment in the Institute.
Laboratories are also being renovated and strengthened. Besides the above, state-of-the-art buildings of New Computer Centre and e-Class Room are ready for inauguration.
He said that necessary measures were being initiated at all levels whether it is academic, research or any other matter.
“By looking and resolving all the issues and problems one by one, I hope, with the collective efforts and contribution of all the stakeholders, we will be able to achieve the ranking in the group of top 50 institutions of the nation. In this endeavor, I am of the opinion that with the holistic development and contribution of all stakeholders of the Institute, we can make a significant difference by delivering quality education and undertaking research in frontier areas” The Director said.
Regarding NIRF-2021 ranking, Prof. Awasthi further clarified that an in-depth analysis of current ranking has been done and the grey areas have been identified.
The Research & Consultancy team of the Institute along with Coordinators of NIRF has been assigned the task to bring out the weak and strong points related to sub components of each parameter of NIRF. I personally feel that the department wise detailed analysis of NIRF parameters will give insight to every stakeholder regarding areas wherein significant improvements are required.
He said that the department wise performance analysis will be circulated to all the faculty members so that they could take necessary steps to improve it further.
