Hamirpur(HP) : One person from Kangra district lost his life and only 85 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, health officials said on Monday.
This was accompanied by 198 more people getting cured of the virus, said a spokesman of the HP Health Department on Monday.
He told UNI that in all, 3,613 samples were tested on Sunday out of which only 85 were found infected. He said that the number of active cases in the state had come down to 1,942 .
However, the number of fatalities has risen to 3,738.
He said that the department had now decided to approach people at their door steps for the second dose of vaccines from Monday and that would be a big step in bringing down the number of cases.
Meanwhile, all the government and private colleges and schools were closed for one week to break the chain of the COVID cases. These institutions would be opened after a meeting of the senior officers which would be held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Ram Subhag Singh at Shimla on November 6.
The spokesman said that people should remain vigilant from the virus and wear face masks and maintain social distance during the ongoing festival season and social functions.
