Bhubaneswar: After a gap of almost one month the daily covid load in Odisha registered below 500 mark taking the total tally in the state to 13,20,014.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said 487 new covid cases were reported in the past 24 hours which included 285 from the quarantine centres and 202 as local contact cases.
On July 8 last the state reported 470 new covid cases after which it surpassed the 500 mark.
Two covid deaths, one each from Bhubaneswar and Sundargarh were reported during the health audit process pushing the total fatalities in the state to 9151.
Sources said Sundargarh district reported a maximum of 137 cases followed by Khordha(78), Sambalpur(39) and Cuttack ( 31). These four districts together contributed 58 per cent of the total new cases recorded in the past 24 hours in the state.
The active cases in the state further declined to 4561 of which four districts have accounted for 50 per cent of the total active cases. Sundargarh district, however, has reported the highest number of 1068 cases.
Although the daily test positivity rate (TPR)has come down to 3.2 per cent, as many as four districts such as Boudh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Kandhamal have recorded the TPR above 5 per cent.
Official sources said 988 covid patients under treatment were cured in the past 24 hours taking the total recoveries in the state to 13,06,249.
