Bengaluru : Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Saturday said he has been informed that the alleged assailants of BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru are residents of Dakshina Kannada district.
“Praveen Nettaru’s assailants are residents of Dakshina Kannada district. This is the information I have. What was their motive (for killing Praveen) and to which organisation they belonged, the police are investigating and engaged in apprehending them,” he told reporters.
Praveen was mercilessly hacked to death by a group of persons with sharp weapons near his chicken shop on July 26 night.
The police have arrested four persons so far in the case. They are Saddam (32 years), Haris (42), Shafique and Zakir.
Saddam and Haris were arrested based on the leads given by Shafique and Zakir, during an interrogation.
The murder has created an acrimony among BJP and Sangh workers against state BJP government for failure to protect their lives.
The angered Sangh workers had almost turtled the car in which Karnataka BJP President Navin Kumar Kateeel was sitting, who hails from Dakshina Kannada district.
They heckled state minister Sunil Kumar too, who hails from the same district.
Apparently disappointed with the present regime, the Sangh workers demanded a Yogi Adityanath model of governance which is popular for weaponizing the law.
