Aurangabad : Pre-monsoon rains with gusty winds hit across four districts of Marathwada region bringing a slight relief from severe heat.
Heavy showers were witnessed in the Aurangabad city area and in some parts of the district on Thursday evening. Local weather office recorded 6.6 mm rainfall in the city.
Incidents of tree collapse, disruption in power supply were also reported in Vaijapur taluka.
Jalna district reported rain with thunder.
Rain with strong winds hit Parbhani and Nanded districts last evening.
In Basmat taluka of Hingoli district, banana orchards, crops and houses were severely damaged due to strong winds in Girgaon, Somthana, Pardi Budruk and Kurunda villages.
District’s Guardian Minister Varsha Gaikwad has directed the district administration to immediately inquire into the matter.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has forecast monsoon rains in Konkan for the next 36 hours.
Monsoon rains are also expected in other parts of the state in the next four days.
Meanwhile, pre-sowing farm activities are in full swing in the region.
