Aurangabad : After the gap of ten days monsoon rains lashed different parts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state last evening bring relief to farmers who were eagerly waiting for rain to undertake sowing operation of khariff crops.
Reports reaching here from Jalna district stated that,rain lashed many parts of district including Jalna city.
Moderate rainfall was also received in Roshangaon, Sagarwadi, Shelgaon, Matrewadi, Somthana, Roshangaon areas of Badnapur taluka of district while in Ghansawangi taluka, along with Tirthpuri, Bhayagavhan, Bachegaon, Vadiramsagaon, Hivara, Bhardi, Rui villages also received thundershowers. Due to heavy rains in Dhavda area of Bhokardan taluka, water flowed from the fields. This rain will help to speed up the kharif sowing.
Heavy showers also lashed the Aurangabad city and surrounding places .
Heavy rains also lashed in Nanded city last evening. Even after that, the drizzle continued till late.
Reports from Parbhani stated that, heavy rains reported at Gangakhed taluka of district last evening .
In Hingoli district of region, rains with thunder in Hingoli city and its surrounding places was reported . In some parts of the district, farmers have started cultivating turmeric and cotton.
Meanwhile, the Colaba Regional Meteorological Center in Mumbai has forecast torrential to very heavy rains in Mumbai, Konkan and South Central Maharashtra till the July 25.
