Mumbai : A special PMLA court in Mumbai on Thursday extended the ED custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut till August 8 in connection with alleged money laundering case in the Patra Chawl land scam.
The court on Monday had remanded the Sena MP into Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) custody till Thursday after the agency found alleged irregularities in the Chawl’s redevelopment.
ED’s Special Public Prosecutor Hiten Venegaonkar had sought eight days custody on August 1.
Raut’s home was raided by the ED starting July 31 dawn, for several hours. He was questioned for over nine hours before he was taken under detention to the agency offices where he was again grilled for over seven hours and then arrested on Monday.
