According to official sources, the Centre is considering grant of indemnity to foreign vaccine-makers Pfizer and Moderna against legal proceedings, prior to their rollout in India. The Serum Institute of India has also sought indemnity from liability, expressing the hope that rules would be the same for everyone. By granting indemnity, the government will be responsible for compensating for any side effects of the vaccine, instead of the vaccine maker.
