Lucknow :Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong Wednesday said various Singapore companies have invested 250 million US dollars in Uttar Pradesh and most of the investments are in Noida and its surrounding areas.
” We are encouraging our investors to invest in Lucknow and other parts of the state,” he announced while saying if the Chief Minister agrees, then Singapore will be happy to become the first partner country of the Global Investor Summit of Uttar Pradesh.
The High Commissioner said it is no exaggeration for him to say that Uttar Pradesh feels like his second home after meeting the Chief Minister.
High Commissioner of Singapore Simon Wong paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence here on Wednesday. On this occasion, discussions were held to further improve the relations between Singapore and India, especially Uttar Pradesh.
High Commissioner Simon Wang congratulated the Chief Minister on his unprecedented victory in the assembly elections and for improvement in all spheres.
The High Commissioner said,” we got information that Uttar Pradesh Skill University is going to be established. We are ready to extend all necessary cooperation in this.”
High Commissioner Simon said his country propose to have a program for the exchange of knowledge, technology and skills between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Singapore. “We are ready to provide necessary training for capacity building of State Government officers and employees,” he said.
The High Commissioner said they would be happy to cooperate with Uttar Pradesh in various areas of urban development and planning, including water management. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Singapore in the year 2018. Urban development was a key issue on this occasion. We are willing to work in Uttar Pradesh as per the spirit of the Prime Minister, he said.
The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said India and Singapore have had strong historical ties. Along with diplomatic relations, there are strong trade relations between the two countries. Uttar Pradesh can play an important role in further improving these relations.
The Chief Minister said a Singapore company has invested Rs 1100 crore in the recently concluded third ground breaking ceremony. The state has excellent performance in smart city project. Singapore can give us technical support for the betterment of this project.
The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh takes full care of the needs of its investors. Our industrial friendly policies have changed the industrial environment of the state. 21 sectoral policies have been formulated according to the needs of the industry. The State Government is ready to provide all necessary resources to the entrepreneurs for industrial development in line with the vision of the Prime Minister and will be happy to make Singapore a partner country in the proposed Global Investors Summit next year.
The Chief Minister said all necessary infrastructure is available in Uttar Pradesh for industrial development. Uttar Pradesh is becoming an expressway state today. Very soon it will be a state with 5 international airports. The first inland waterway from Haldia to Varanasi is in Uttar Pradesh itself. The Defense Industrial Corridor is being developed here. Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor pass through Uttar Pradesh. Multimodal logistics/transport hubs are being set up at Dadri and Boraki in the state. Singapore companies will find a favourable environment here.
The Chief Minister said state government setting up a grand film city near Jewar. This is where the development of the Medical Device Park and Fin-Tech City is taking place. There are limitless possibilities for investors here.
The Chief Minister said we have the largest MSME base. There are limitless employment opportunities in this field. Singapore can support us for their development.
The High Commissioner told the Chief Minister that work is being done by a Singapore based organization to raise the standard of living of 8500 families in Ayodhya district.
The Singapore delegation that met the Chief Minister included High Commissioner Simon Wang, Regional Director Enterprise Denis Ten, First Secretary (Political) Wu Po Cheng and Abraham Ten.
