The United Nations Environment Programme and WRAP has released the Food Waste Index Report 2021 based on food wastage by different countries in 2019. According to the report, India wastes 69,760,163 tonnes of food in a year, which is the equivalent of 50 kg per capita annually. Globally, 931 million tonnes of food are wasted every year.
