Dehradun: A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of Uttarakhand Assembly was held on Monday under the chairmanship of newly-elected Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, regarding the conduct of business of the first session of the Fifth Assembly of Uttarakhand, beginning from March 29. Held at the Assembly Building in Dehradun, the meeting discussed the agenda of the House, which will commence on March 29. It was decided that on the first day of the session, along with the Governor’s Address, the Vote on Account for this financial year will be presented on the table. The meeting of the Business Advisory Committee would be convened for further up-ordination, it further decided. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Speaker Bhushan said it was a proud moment for her to run the House for the first time as Speaker of the Assembly. She sought cooperation from all members of the House for peaceful and smooth functioning of the House. There will be a positive discussion in the House on the issues raised in the development and public interest of the state, she added. The Speaker said that she will provide equal opportunity to all members of the ruling party and opposition, adding that her endeavour was to fulfil the hopes and expectations of people, as well as to empower the democratic institution. “It is only by making the House a centre of wider discussion for matters relating to policies and legislation and public interest, that we can do the welfare of people by exercising control over the Executive,” she noted. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prem Chand Agarwal, MLA Khajan Das, BSP Legislature Party leader Haji Shahzad, Vidhan Sabha Secretary Mukesh Singhal, Legislative Principal Secretary Heera Singh Bonal and other officials were present on the occasion.
